April 5, 2006 Words from Alex Castro

Going through my email I received this email that Alex sent to his support team. I think it is a clear reminder of what Alex believed (in honor of my brother):

Update Letter. April 5, 2006
Missionary Alexander Castro. Christian Surfers, Jaco Beach.Costa Rica

‘I’ve felt the Spirit of GOD in me…it is kinda weird to feel it…I can’t describe it’
Byron Loria. 15 year-old surfer and Junior Leader. Christian Surfers.

Three months ago I told you of the beginning of a new year for our mission here, and now I can only tell you of a GOD who has been faithful in fulfilling the promises he has made to us of unity, faithfulness, and grace.

God brought me here with a mission to minister to others, and two years and a half later I can’t describe how much I have been ministered and disciplined after I made the decision to do fulltime mission work with the youth of Jaco.

We live in a town wounded by prostitution and laziness. The spiritual battle is real in this town, we can see it and feel it every single day here. However, there is hope in JESUS. Jaco is more and more a town impacted by unfailing love and greater grace.

One-on one-life-changing discipleship meetings, Training Group for future leaders, a weekly Bible Study, a Kids Club, the ‘movement’ coffee shop, a surf trip, a skate contest, movie nights, surf camps for grommets, prayer meetings, and much more, are some of the tools we have been using to go make disciples and love them as HE has loved us.

I want to thank you for being part of this ‘movement’ by come along side of me as a financial and spiritual supporter. Thank You. Alex.
